معناداری آماری، تصمیمی است که توسط یک تحلیلگر گرفته میشود مبنی بر اینکه نتایج در دادهها، فقط بر مبنای تصادف قابل توضیح نیستند. آزمون فرضیه آماری روشی است که تحلیلگران با استفاده از آن این تصمیم را میگیرند. این آزمون یک مقدار p (میزان احتمال) را ارائه میکند که احتمال مشاهده نتایج به اندازه نتایج موجود در دادهها با این فرض است که نتایج واقعا فقط ناشی از تصادف هستند.
مقدار 5% ارزش p یا کمتر، اغلب از نظر آماری با اهمیت درنظرگرفته میشود.
Statistical Significance
Statistical significance is a determination made by an analyst that the results in data aren't explainable by chance alone. Statistical hypothesis testing is the method by which the analyst makes this determination. The test provides a p-value, which is the probability of observing results as extreme as those in the data assuming the results are truly due to chance alone.
A p-value of 5% or lower is often considered to be statistically significant.
